What is a mindset coach? Do I even need one?
Coaching is about shaping mindsets, about getting you from point A, where you are, to point B, where you want to be. In traditional coaching, coaches usually help you identify what you want—your point B. They review your present state with you in relation to where you want to go along with the practices you have tried so far. After this, you usually create an action plan to get you to your desired destination.
A mindset coach, however, is someone who can help you work your way to your destination by helping you reframe your thinking; it’s inside out coaching!
What a mindset coach is not...
When people think of a coach, they sometimes think of a sports coach. A coach, in this case at least, usually tells you what to do and how to do it. Or perhaps you think of a financial coach, who tells you how, when and where to invest your money. A mindset coach does not look at your past, a therapist does. A mindset coach does not tell you how to solve a problem, a consultant would. And lastly, unlike a mentor, a mindset coach does not necessarily have more experience than you in a specific role or area.
